Rope of Rocks
Description
Until 'The Industrial Revolution' (roughly 200 years ago), the world was unstressed and in perfect balance. If mankind stopped greedily stripping the world's resources, given time, the world would return to itsecological balance. ‘A rope of Rocks’ (part of the ‘Question of Balance’ Series) is a metaphor for the world’s lack of ecological balance.
Materials
‘A Rope of Rocks’ is constructed from river stones (that are over 40 million years old), stainless steel armature and galvanised steel chain. The whole work occupies a space below the glass baustrade at the Cultural Centre . It weighs under one ton and is designed to ‘drape’ over any stationery object.
